Need some ideas on how to entertain the kids?

Good weather - Locally:

Go to the Beach

At least we have plenty of beaches in this area. Even on rainy days (as long as it’s not a thunder storm) you can put your wellies (i.e. rubber Wellington boots) and raincoat on and go exploring rock pools.

Go for a walk

Walk along a catchwater, besides the Tai Lam Reservoir on one of the many hiking trails. Or walk along Castle Peak Road from Tai Lam to Sham Tseng to watch people fishing.

Go for a bike ride

  • Not quite as easy as it sounds in Hong Kong.
  • Try riding along the road besides Golden Beach towards the Gold Dolphin statue at weekends and you’ll get stopped by an obnoxious security guard who will threaten you with the police (even more annoying as his own bike is next to him and he’s obviously ridden it there).
  • There are public cycle tracks in Tuen Mun: Wu King Road; Lung Mun Road near Butterfly Beach Park; Tuen Mun River Channel near Wu Shan Riverside Park; Tuen Mun Station; Tin King; Lam Tei
  • A public cycle track also runs besides the Tuen Mun River in Tuen Mun Park, so you can also go to the reptile house or use the playgrounds there. On a weekend you can watch the model boats on the lake.

Go to Chipmunks Indoor / Outdoor Play Centre in Tsuen Wan

Go to Tuen Mun Riding Stables

Call in advance to book a 30 minute pony ride (weekdays only) or just go and see the horses and have a picnic.

Take a Ferry Somewhere

Kids love going on boats. Take the ferry from Tsuen Wan to Ma Wan to go to Noah’s Ark.

Visit the fresh fish shops in Sam Shing

See the many different types of fish in tanks for sale at these fresh seafood shops. Buy some and take the to one of the open-air restaurants opposite Hanford Gardens and they’ll cook them for you.

Ride the Light Rail or MTR

All young kids like train rides.

Rainy Days - A little further:

Thanks to Debra Tolic  for emailing this great suggestion:

A great indoor playground called PLAYTOWN!

The kid's can play all day - the entry price gives you unlimited entry for the day - parents go in free with one paying child.

Parents can sit and relax on couches while the kids run around having fun - you can even order a coffee and there are vending machines (food and drink) there too. dults can even run around inside the playground WITH the children if they want to!

There's a separate area for under 3 year olds so they don't get trampled by the littlies.

Ice Skating

The nearest rinks to this are at Elements and Festival Walk. Elements is right next to the 962 bus stop before going in to the Western Harbour Tunnel as you go to Central.
